1. Purpose of This Document
This document sets out the Responsible Gaming framework that applies to users of the Langley platform located in Canada. It describes obligations accepted by the company, controls available to users, procedures for self-exclusion, and standards followed to reduce gambling-related harm. This is a policy document and does not describe games, promotions, or account features unrelated to player protection.
Gambling involves financial and personal risk. The platform maintains the measures described in this document as part of its operating standards.
2. Scope and Applicability
This policy applies to all registered accounts held by individuals located in Canada. Gambling regulation in Canada is administered at the provincial and territorial level, not by a single national authority. Specific requirements may therefore vary depending on the province or territory of residence. Where provincial or territorial standards impose obligations beyond those described in this policy, the stricter standard applies.
Users are responsible for understanding the gambling laws and regulatory requirements applicable in their province or territory before using the platform.
3. Player Eligibility and Age Verification
Access to gambling services on the platform is restricted to adults who have reached the minimum legal gambling age in their province or territory. Age and identity verification are conducted as part of the account registration process. Accounts for which age cannot be confirmed are not permitted to deposit funds or participate in gambling activity.
If it is identified that an account is held by a person who does not meet the minimum age requirement, the account will be suspended immediately and any funds will be handled in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
4. Player Spending and Activity Controls
Limit-setting tools are available to allow users to manage their gambling activity. These controls are accessible through account settings and take effect as described below.
Available limit types:
Deposit limit
- Description: Restricts the total amount that can be deposited within a defined period
- Effective period options: daily, weekly, or monthly
Loss limit
- Description: Caps the net losses a player may incur within a defined period
- Effective period options: daily, weekly, or monthly
Wagering limit
- Description: Restricts total wager amounts within a defined period
- Effective period options: daily, weekly, or monthly
Session time limit
- Description: Sets a maximum duration for a single gambling session
- Effective period options: per session
Increasing an existing limit is subject to a mandatory waiting period before the change takes effect. Decreasing a limit takes effect immediately upon confirmation.
Users are encouraged to set limits at account registration and to review them regularly. Limits are not removed or overridden during the applicable cooling-off period for increases.
5. Lower-Risk Gambling Guidance
Canada’s Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines, developed through national public-health research, provide evidence-based benchmarks that may be referenced in player communications. These guidelines are not guarantees of harm-free gambling. They are risk-reduction benchmarks intended to assist adults in making informed decisions.
The published benchmarks include:
- Gambling no more than 1% of monthly household income before tax
- Gambling no more than four days per month
- Avoiding regular participation in more than two types of gambling activity
- Avoiding gambling while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or other substances
- Limiting access to money while gambling
These benchmarks are not enforced as account rules, but are made available as part of responsible gaming information.
6. Recognising Problem Gambling
Gambling can become harmful in certain circumstances. The following patterns may indicate that gambling is no longer within a user’s control:
- Spending more than intended on a consistent basis
- Gambling with money needed for essential expenses
- Attempting to recover losses by placing further bets
- Borrowing money to fund gambling activity
- Concealing gambling activity from family or others
- Experiencing distress, anxiety, or conflict related to gambling
If any of these indicators apply, users are encouraged to use the self-exclusion or break-in-play options described in Section 7 or to contact a support service listed in Section 9.
7. Self-Exclusion and Breaks in Play
7.1 Break in Play
A break in play is a short-term voluntary restriction on account access. Users may request a break in play for the following periods: one day, one week, one month, two months, or three months. During an active break in play, the account cannot be used for gambling activity. Promotional communications are suspended for the duration of the break.
7.2 Self-Exclusion
Self-exclusion is a formal, longer-term restriction. Users may apply for self-exclusion for periods of six months, one year, or five years. Once a self-exclusion is confirmed, the platform will:
- Prevent the user from logging in during the exclusion period
- Suspend all marketing and promotional communications to the excluded account
- Take steps to identify and restrict access if a breach is detected
- Provide information on the terms of the exclusion, user obligations, and the process for potential return at the end of the exclusion period
Self-exclusion is not the same as standard account closure. It is a regulatory protection measure with specific procedural requirements. Users who wish to return after an exclusion period ends must complete a defined re-registration or reactivation process before access is restored.
7.3 Ontario BetGuard
Users located in Ontario may also register with BetGuard, a centralized self-exclusion program administered within Ontario’s regulated online gambling framework. BetGuard registration applies across participating regulated online gambling websites in Ontario. The platform supports BetGuard participation where applicable under Ontario regulatory standards. Users should confirm current BetGuard enrollment procedures directly through the relevant Ontario regulatory authority.
8. Platform Obligations Under This Policy
Under this Responsible Gaming policy, the platform commits to:
- Making limit-setting tools accessible within account settings at all times
- Displaying responsible gaming information in a visible and accessible location
- Providing self-exclusion and break-in-play options without requiring justification from the user
- Explaining self-exclusion terms before the restriction is applied
- Preventing excluded users from accessing gambling functions during the exclusion period
- Referring users to external support resources upon request or where harm indicators are identified
- Not encouraging a user to increase limits or cancel a self-exclusion during a cooling-off or exclusion period
9. Support Resources
Users who require assistance with gambling-related concerns may contact the following organizations. These are independent bodies and are not affiliated with the platform.
- Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA): ccsa.ca
- Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines: gamblingguidelines.ca
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO): agco.ca
- Provincial and territorial problem gambling helplines: available through each province’s health authority website
The platform does not provide counselling or treatment services and directs users to qualified external organizations for that purpose.
10. Policy Updates
This policy is reviewed periodically to reflect changes in applicable provincial and territorial regulatory requirements. The current version of this document is the version published on this page. Users are responsible for reviewing this policy at intervals. Continued use of an account following a material update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Questions about this policy may be directed to the company’s support team through the Contact page.
